ASSAULTING A FOUNDATION OF RULE OF LAW- NANA YAW OSEI

ASSAULTING A FOUNDATION OF RULE OF LAW-

THE PLIGHT OF GREGORY AFOKO MUST ENGAGE ALL DECENT MINDS!

The law enforcement arm of the Executive (government) -the police- by its unlawful conduct is determined to hand over the dead body of Gregory Afoko to his family but it lies bad. Greg will not die! You may poison him through food, water, medicine or injectable, but he will survive to tell a story!

To think that a court of competent jurisdiction has granted him bail and he is still being kept in custody by the police means a lot!  Perhaps he's still being kept in custody to ensure that if he has been poisoned, the poison would eat deep into his tissues such that no remedial measure can be taken to save his life.

An accused person who the law says is innocent until proven guilty is already being treated as a criminal! Despite being sick and vomiting blood and on admission at the hospital, he was handcuffed to his bed in that helpless situation! He is still in handcuffs creating the impression that Greg might abscond!

Greg says he's going nowhere. He insists that HE IS INNOCENT! PROVE HIM GUILTY IN COURT AND STOP THE POLITICAL THEATRECALS! NO UNDERHAND DEALINGS.

A certain narrative had been put out in the public domain that he, in concert with another, killed Adams Mahama. So if he is released the narrative will be weakened and those pushing the said narrative will be exposed as liars. People already know you lied about everything so there's nothing to maintain and protect!

However, whatever transpired in the aborted trial of Greg showed it all. 14 witnesses lined up to tell a story that cross-examination would later exposed as complete lies! But for the discontinuation of that trial, the prosecution would have seen its smoothness level by now.

To think that this is happening 26 years into the operation of the Constitution, 1992, is not only retrogressive but barbaric and wicked!

All of us, especially those who are perceived as against government, are at risk. You can be picked up at any time and killed! The court which is our last resort can no longer protect us because its role in our national life assigned to it by the Constitution, 1992, is being eroded at a faster rate!

Rule of law is not discriminatory.

We shall continue to speak against injustice irrespective of whoever is involved. Let those who have decided to endorse what is happening by their loud silence continue to do so. It is hoped that they never rediscover their voices.

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) of which I am a proud member is aware. Other bodies including the Christian Council of Ghana are aware. The media are aware. But for some of them this injustice would not come to the fore. They however need to do more. They are too quiet on this issue.

One day the oppressed shall become stronger!

It was all a FACADE!
